eBay Buyer Protection Program

If you are worried about buying on eBay then their Buyer Protection Program may put your mind a little more at ease.

What does this protection cover and how does it work?  eBay first encourages you to work with the seller.  Contact them and describe the situation.  Most sellers on eBay are reputable and reputable sellers want to keep their feedback scores high.  More often than not they will work with you.

Another situation that you may run into is that the item you received was not as described or information was omitted that you felt should have been included.  This is very often the case with collectibles.  The seller did not  describe the condition well or it was chipped and the seller did not state that.  Again, if the seller is reputable they should be willing to work with you.

What happens if the seller does not get back to you and you tried multiple times to contact them? This may be time for the open a case with the eBay Buyer Protection Program.  Typically, you have seven days after the auction to work with the seller (ten for international auctions).  After that alloted time if the seller has done nothing to rectify the situation open a case.

If eBay indeed finds that you are in the right and the item qualifies for the Buyer Protection Program you will get a refund of your auction plus the original shipping.
